D-Rack washing line in "D" mode
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How does my D-Rack washing line stay flat against the wall?
A. Simply use a clothes peg to clip the side rails of the flat D-Rack washing line to the fabric straps near the top. The fabric straps are a good place to clip and store your clothes pegs for normal use. Another option is to pass a strap over one of the crossbars to hold in place.
Q. Will the spring in my D-Rack washing line weaken?
A. After some time, you may notice that your D-Rack washing line may not return to the wall perfectly flat. If this occurs, simply turn the D-Rack line around so that it flexes out the other way, and we also recommend that your D-Rack washing line is stored in the flat “relaxed” position when you are not using it to increase its life span.
Q. How much washing can my D-Rack hold?
A. Your D-Rack washing line is designed to hold a normal load of wet washing and with 20 rails supplied it equates to around 12 meters of washing line space. Your D-Rack will hold heavy items such as wet towels, however you may notice some deformation or extra flexing. This is normal and will not hurt your D-Rack washing line. Very heavy items might cause the rails to slide a little – if this occurs, try to choose a rail that sits above one of the metal pole connectors to prevent sliding, or use a clothes peg to stop the slide from occuring.
Q. How should I hang my D-Rack washing line?
A. Your D-Rack washing line is designed to hang on a wall or a door with the hooks supplied, or with readily available 'over-the-door' hooks. Most walls are either masonry or plasterboard. For plasterboard walls, be sure to screw hooks into a firm stud. For masonry walls, use plastic wall plugs or similar to secure screws. For doors, solid wood doors are most secure. Hollow core doors whilst strong enough to store your D-Rack washing line may not be strong enough for a fully loaded D-Rack. Use 'over-the-door' hooks if in doubt as its better to be on the safe side.
Q. How should I clean my D-Rack line?
A. A simple wipe with a soft damp cloth or paper towel is the best option. Avoid chemicals or harsh scouring pads. The white fabric straps are 100% synthetic and may be washed occasionally in your washing machine at a cold temperature only.
Q. Can my D-Rack washing line fall over?
A. Outside, gusts of wind may cause your D-Rack in free standing mode to fall over. If you live in a windy area, we recommend that you use your D-Rack indoors, or outside only in wall hanging mode which is more secure. When using indoors you can leave your sliding doors open slightly so the breeze can still come through and dry your washing.
Q. My D-Rack washing line looks lopsided?
A. Check that the “D” rails both have the metal part of the “D-Rail” at the bottom. Straighten the rails by sliding them to make them look even.
Q. I'd love a D-Rack but I rent but am not allowed to drill holes for hooks?
A. D-Rack is the most flexible clothes rack and washing line on the market so you still have a few options: 1. Use “over-the-door” hooks which are readily available from homeware and hardware stores, which fit easily into the plastic loops on D-Rack washing line. The longer type are better, as the D-Rack line will hang lower.2. Use self adhesive and removable “3M Command Jumbo 3kg Hooks”, again available from your hardware and homeware stores and even supermarkets. It's important that if you use these type of hooks that the bottom of the D-Rack sits on the ground so that the hooks do not take the full weight of D-Rack. When loaded with wet clothes the D-Rack washing line can weight 8 – 10kg. In this way, the hooks just steady D-Rack against the wall and enable it to be stored flat when not in use.
Q. What are the plastic end clips on the end of the two vertical D-Rails for?
A. These are two spare clips in the event one of the clips on the crossbars break. Try not to wrench or angle the cross bars harshly when unclipping. Simply lever off the crossbar by pressing against the D-rail with your opposing thumb. In case of breakage the small plastic clips are just pressed tightly on to the end of each cross bar and can be removed by pulling off.
