Retractable washing lines are ideal washing lines for people who only want to see a washing line when they are using it.

With many different types of makes and models and installation situations on offer, we try to answer the most commonly asked questions that get sent into us at Eco Washing lines.

• Q. What Surfaces Can I Install A Retractable Washing Line On To? 
• A. Retractable washing lines can be installed on to any suitable solid structure, such as a brick wall, brick fence, concrete wall etc. As long as the mounting area is solid, almost any material is ok to mount to.

• Q. Do Washing Lines Come With Wall Anchors Or Wall Fasteners Included?
• A. No. The washing lines do not have fasteners or anchors included as they can be mounted onto so many different surfaces, the correct fasteners cannot be supplied for all situations and materials. If you are unsure which fasteners or wall anchors to use, please consult your local hardware store as they will be able to supply the correct fasteners for the type of material you are mounting to.

• Q. Whats The Maximum Distance The Lines Extend To??
• A. The Austral Retractaway 40 retractable washing line has the longest reach at 8 metres for the standard model and 10 metres for the extended model. The minimum distance required for the Retractaway 40 is 1.5 metres. The Hills Sietro 6 and Quatro 4 retractable washing lines extend to a maximum of 6.5 metres and have a minimum distance requirement of 4 metres. The Versaline range of retractable washing lines extends up to 5 metres wide and have no minimum distance requirement.

• Q. What Colours Of Retractable Washing Line Are Available?
• A. The Austral Retractaway 40 retractable washing line is available in Heritage Green or Beige and the Hills retractable washing lines are only available in Salt Bush (pale green). Versaline washing lines come in Grey for the standard models and are also available in 316 marine grade stainless steel. 

• Q. Do The Retractable Washing Lines Come With A Catch To Hook The Lines To When They Are Extended?
• A. Yes. A catch is supplied with all retractable washing lines sold, which would then be mounted onto an opposing wall, post or structure. The catch also needs to mounted on to something solid as there is a lot of weight on the lines when they are tensioned and the weight of wet washing is also applied.

• Q. What Do I Need For A Wall To Wall Installation?
• A. You will only need the retractable line unit and wall anchors.

• Q. What Do I Need For A Wall To Post Installation?
• A. You will need 1 x retractable line unit, 1 x post and wall anchors.

• Q. What Do I Need For A Post To Post Installation?
• A. You will need 1 x retractable line unit, 2 x posts and 1 x mounting bar.

• Q. What Guarantee Do These Retractable Washing Lines Come With?
• A. Austral and Hills washing lines both have 10 year structural guarantees and the Versaline has 12 months.
