Rotamate Rotary Airer Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find questions and answers to some of the most commonly asked questions regarding the Rotamate rotary airer that have come in from customers throughout the UK. People are very impressed with the quality of the workmanship with the Rotamate including its very innovative rain proof covers, however we do get questions from time to time regarding this product and we have listed these questions below with their answers. If you cannot find the answer to your question below on this Rotamate frequently asked questions page please feel free to email us your question or questions and we will do our bst to get these answered and published to the web for all to see.

Commonly Asked Rotamate Questions

  • Do I have to detach the panels before collapsing my Rotamate rotary airer?
  • No. It takes a couple of minutes to fit them when you first set up your Rotamate arer, and after that they can be left in place – which we recommend. The Rotamate rotary airer can be folded down and the storage cover slipped over with the panels in place.

  • What is the Rotamate like in high winds?
  • In very high winds the panels self-detach at the tips of the arms and the cover slides safely down the pole. They are easily reattached when the storm has passed. This is a safety feature for extreme weather conditions and is rarely required in the UK.

  • What about the Rotamate airer in driving rain? Won’t all my washing get soaked?
  • No. Put the largest item on the outer line (eg a towel, duvet cover etc). If there is driving rain, whichever direction it is coming from (and if it is driving rain, it will only be coming from one direction!) the large item will shield all the laundry and washing  behind it. And as it is wind which dries washing best, the rest of your wash will continue to dry.

  • Are there any days when I won’t be able to dry my washing on my Rotamate rotary airer?
  • Very few indeed - The Rotamate airer offers great protection from the rain, even driving rain. Failure to use a Rotamate airer for drying washing is usually because we decide we don’t want to venture out on really horrible days – the washing would be fine and cosy under its waterproof covers! Clothes can be slow to dry on damp, foggy days, because the air is very damp and very still. It is harder to dry clothes indoors on these days!

  • Don’t the Rotamate rain panels stop the sun drying the clothes and washing?
  • No. The main drying factor is moving air around the Rotamate airer. In fact, many items suffer bleaching and fading in the sun, and Rotamate’s protective panels can help clothes keep their colours longer, which then also helps in the long lasting wear of your clothes and laundry.

  • Do you provide rain panels for airers other than the Rotamate rotary airer?
  • We only make panels for Rotamates. Rotamates are specially designed to hold the protective panels in place efficiently, neatly and, most importantly, safely. Ordinary rotary airers do not have the fittings necessary to do this which is why we only supply panels for the Rotamate rotary airers.

  • Why are the Rotamate airer panels blue?
  • We ran a survey and blue came back as the most desirable colour. However, we plan to offer a range of colours and patterns in the near future for the Rotamate. Tell us what colours you would like!

  • What do you get when you purchase the Rotamate rotary airer?
  • Below is an image with the contents of the Rotamate pack including the Free ground spike and Free storage cover.
